Migraine Help – Self-Care Solutions For Many Common Migraine Symptoms

Migraine Disease comes with so many different symptoms that it can feel challenging to find effective migraine help that caters to your specific needs. Everyone’s experience with migraine disease is different, but here are some common symptoms and natural migraine relief practices that support you in getting some relief.

Migraine Help for Muscle Tension: Severe muscle tension and pain is a common symptom for many migraine sufferers. It can appear as a pre-migraine symptom as well as a symptom that you experience during and after a migraine. One of the best ways I know to achieve more migraine free days is to monitor your muscle tension levels in the neck and shoulders regularly and do daily exercises to decrease tension in these areas.

Daily stretching, meditation, deep breathing exercises, massage, and applying moist heat to the neck and shoulder areas are all things you can do to ease the tension and pain you carry in these areas. Releasing muscle tension regularly is the best migraine help you can give yourself to help keep you relaxed and maintain proper flow throughout your body.

Migraine Help for sensations of cold: Many migraineurs also experience extreme sensations of cold, particularly in their extremities before and during a migraine. Deep breathing exercises will support your blood flow in reaching your extremities. Breathing deep into your belly to the count of five and then exhaling to the count of five over and over again for about 10-15 minutes can bring warmth into your extremities again. This deep breathing practice will help you relax, loosen tight muscles and regulate blood flow so that the sensations of cold dissipate.

Migraine Help for Nausea: If you feel nauseous before or during a migraine attack gently sucking on a piece of raw ginger can ease this symptom. Ginger and peppermint tea are also helpful in supporting the pass of this discomfort.

Migraine Help for all-over body aches: For many, your entire body can feel achy. Sometimes soaking your feet in a hot footbath for 20-minutes can release many of the reflexology points in your feet that are associated with your symptoms. Placing your feet in the heated water and letting them soak can support you in feeling more grounded and it is a passive way to encourage your whole body to relax and let go of tensions.

Migraine Help for sore facial muscles: Many migraineurs experience great facial pain and tension. It’s hard not to tense these muscles further when you are already in the midst of a migraine attack, and seemingly unknowingly. If you are in the midst of an attack try using ice and cold face cloths to dull the pain and redirect the blood flow away from your head. A moderately warm and moist face cloth applied to your entire face can encourage the pain and tension to dissipate after your attack is over. A simple rule of thumb to use is that during an attack you can relieve upper body pain with ice, and after an attack you can try using warm to hot compresses to relieve pain and tension. During and after an attack you can also gently massage your face, your forehead, your temples, around the eyes, and your jaw as this will help relieve the pain and soreness.

Migraine Help for Stress and Anxiety: Migraine disease is often accompanied by severe stress and anxiety for many sufferers. It’s important to treat your stress and anxiety as soon as possible so that it doesn’t become a part of your daily life. Anything that you can do throughout your day to promote relaxation and a sense of well-being is imperative. Taking bubble baths, participating in exercise that feels good to your body, meditating, practicing deep breathing, stretching, and doing things that lift your spirits are all things you will want to consider daily to ease the cycle of stress and anxiety. Anyone living well with migraine disease will tell you that learning to create a positive perspective and practicing daily self care can make a huge difference in your experience with migraines. Breathe, relax, and nurture yourself and your body. That is exactly the kind of migraine help that can make all the difference.
