Home Remedies for Getting Rid of Acne Scars and Blemishes

Natural methods to combat acne scars and marks are become more popular. The good news is that there are some natural methods to help you eliminate these unsightly blemishes left behind by acne.

One of the most positive aspects about using natural home remedies is their low cost since most of the ingredients you need are probably already in your kitchen. The two negative aspects of home remedies are that the effects can take longer to notice and they can vary greatly from individual to individual. Patience and consistency are key factors when you choose to try out natural remedies for acne scar removal.

How to Get Rid of Acne Scars

Before trying any natural home remedy for acne scars and marks, make sure to wash your face with warm water. Always test out the product on a small area of skin to make sure that it does not produce irritation or an allergic reaction. Also remember that all of the following remedies can be diluted with water to produce a gentler mixture.

Garlic

Because garlic has so many health benefits, it is considered a wonder food. It has also been used in the treatment of acne scars and marks left by pimples. Since garlic can produce a stinging sensation, make sure to rinse it off immediately if it starts burning.

For this home remedy, finely grate a clove of garlic and mix with two tablespoons of water. Massage the paste directly to the effected area. The garlic will exfoliate the skin and remove a layer of scar tissue, so do not leave it on for more than five minutes.

Always apply aloe vera directly to the treated area after you have washed off the garlic paste. The aloe vera will hydrate your skin and provide protection without further irritation.

Lemons and Tomatoes

Both lemons and tomatoes are fruits that are high in citric acid which has excellent properties for cleaning and rejuvenating the skin. They have been used for years in natural skin treatments. Tomatoes in particular can inhibit the production of sebum due to its high content of Vitamin A.

When you use lemon juice, just squeeze a tablespoon of juice. Apply the lemon juice to the affected area with a cotton ball. Rinse it off after ten minutes and use a mild cleanser.

If you choose tomato juice, you can also apply it directly to the skin with a cotton ball. Rinse of the juice after ten minutes.

It always pays to use fresh natural products instead of the canned versions. The canned versions can contain additives that might produce side effects and reduce the full effect of the natural components.
